is it just me or do people need to spend their money on a real guitar and get real lessons and be real musicians?

I agree with you Frostmoon, people do need to learn for themselves... but also, it is a really cool game. Never played it, but it's sweet.

actually its a great game to stretch and exercise your fingers with. personally my timing and finger placement, speed and strength has improved somewhat. i think its a very good beginner tool, or a warm up thing. seriously, lots of songs on guitar hero on the harder difficulties are actually harder then on real guitar

I don't mind that it's a great tool to learn, but the whole attitude that i've seen with the game is poor like the whole "i'll kick your ass on this because i'm a better guitarist than you" i've seen that one way to many times and thats when I think "can you even play a real guitar like that you cheeseball"

im pretty sure with all the mainstream music out there they can if they were explained how guitar tablature works. its basically the same shit with chords, pulloffs, hammer ons, tremelo picking and stuff. If they play they get their timing right, all they need to learn is what strings there are and the finger to fret placement.
I HAVE seen those types who say they kick ass in guitar referring to guitar hero. and i think as a guitarist i do them a favor and rip them a new one. I think all guitarist should do that when they here a noob say something like that. pisses me off too. but again ive seen some young kids pick up an actual guitar after they play the game (talked to a parental unit while watching one play and i scored him a nice guitar while putting in the word).

many moons ago... about 10 years worth, actually... there was a guitar you could hook up to your computer... i believe it was Virtual Guitar. It was the exact same idea... i think they even had virtual drums...

virtual drums would be cool, would teach people how to keep a beat, thats the main thing in being a musician too.
