Well maybe its the area and people that go to your shows but I've only been to one pit where people were out to get hurt (It was a Chimaira pit - I T-R-I-E-D to stay out of it but... there were bar stools and beer botles involved). Other than that its usally pretty kewl. A while back we used to have this thing called the Cleveland Mosh Team. It was kinda like a street Team that you would find at all of the metal shows basicly anywhere within like 200 miles of Cleveland. They used to have Tee Shirts and everything. They were basicly like the Pit Bouncers - If someone falls down they clear a gap to help you get up, - If a fight breaks out they would escort the participants to the parking lot, - If someone can't handle there buzz they find em a nice secluded corner of the venue to wait out there issues, and when things were all going well they were inside the pit tearin shit up. But there presence kinda created a sence of "mosh pit community" that encouraged people to look out for everyone - after all no one goes to a show to get hurt. Anyway the Cleveland Mosh team hasn't been around for a while but that same feeling in the pit still stands - You help out the guy next to you when he looses his bearings and than once he got his shit together you fuck it all up again - Makes for a very enjoyable moshing experience!!!

my worst experience in the pit involved some guy hurtling into my knees, beer on the floor, and a beer bottle to the back of my head. Sadly enough, that was at a Finger Eleven concert... flame away.

Yeah they were awesome - like crowd supplied moshing bouncers that kept everything in control. + they were always there at EVERY show no matter what it was as long as there was a pit... come to think of it i think these guys would start a pit at a barry manelow concert

Well as i mentioned before i think they just lost there direction and orginization because that same vibe is still hapening at the shows - Guy falls down and EVERYONE around stops to help him up and make sure he doesn't get trampled etc. But you don't see the cleveland mosh team t shirts anymore - there is no more cleveland mosh team as far as i can tell. But for anyone who wants to better understand what the hell i am talking about just check this out! www.fubarm.com/articles/jaysun/jaysun-nov99.htm

I wish people were that good with each other in our pits... we've had bands stop playing here because moshers are like that
