Weeeeeeeird, a KMFDM album more than five letters in name? I honestly will think the critic mass will be split in half on this one. In my opinion one of the best kmfdm has made. Unlike their recent efforts theyve balanced the sound out a little more between the rock and the industrial aspects of it. For those who love the tongue biting adrenaline pumping rush off older albums (ie Nihil) will be a bit dissapointed. The hardcore punch in the face guitar riffs are now gone, sure theres tons of guitar, but they dont have the same impact as they did during the Nihil/Xtort era. Like i said the music is now balanced out, you will hear tons of synths BUT not so much that there wouldnt be space for the guitar solos. Every sound is done well in this album, but im guessing the ideas are running out there are two songs that sound like megalomaniacal, and some chorus/verse dont fit. Im not saying its like old skinny puppy work, but some just are out of place. The musical diversity is by far kmfdm's widest, ranging from hip hop beats to ambient keys, but they never get into too much of a specific genre. Lyrically, its what you can expect from kmfdm, but theres a little more to this album, besides all that Fight Oppression (in other words real punktasticness) bullshit, there are actually songs about daily problems (feelings of abandonment). Lucia's voice is heavenly in some songs, Real Thing and Professional Killer testifies that fact. BUT in other songs, jesus, overprocessing isnt the answer... She basically sounds like Lacey (nocturne fame), which isnt a bad thing, but see the difference is, Nocturne is waaaaaaaaaaaay harder then kmfdm, and screaming fits.
As more of a nihil fan, i was a bit dissapointed BUT Lucia singing in real thing and professional killer fucking saved it for me, no not just saved it, made it a great cd.. a fucking nine. For everyone else, theres at least one song that would be a favorite. If not, possibly the whole album itself. I highly recommend to everybody, even at least for a listen.
To pissedant : this board is a wonderful idea
