Both of these bands are fucking awesome.
I'm a little partial to Soilwork, personally. I heard about them before In Flames and really fell in love with the Figure Number Five song/video "Light the Torch."
The In Flames song that really sold me was "The Quiet Place."
Both band are kind of heavy on the vocals (scream in the song until the chorus hits) but if you can get beyond that, these bands are really fucking awesome.
And yes, both have some kick ass programming/keyboard action going on.

Not familiar with Soilwork, but a friend of mine is deep into them.
I got into In Flames... when Reroute To Remain came out, but I can't get into their stuff that's pre-RTR. RTR and Soundtrack To Your Escape rock hard. Especially The Quiet Place in my car's stereo system. It just fucking kicks ass.

I was actually a little disappointed by their live show since they only played 1 song from RTR and 1 from STYE (My Sweet Shadow).

Those bands kick ass. RTR, imo, was a bit easier to swallow than Pre-RTR albums, some fans say its only better because its more metal than it is but just because its harder means its better. I love the music though, Bjorn and Jesper fucking shred those guitars like no other. The guitar work is so good that its not even music anymore its fucking art. What got me into them was cloud connected, after one listen i got off my ass and went to EarXtasy and bought it (with natural Born Chaos).
I first heard soilwork when Chainheart Machine came out, it was the first melodic metal band ive heard and i fucking went nuts trying to look for the cd but i was too broke to afford a CDburner and i couldnt find it in any stores. So i was SOL until Predator's Portrait. Its weird that those two coincide.

soilwork is my favorite band next to Crossbreed. Crossbreed first though of course. I saw Soilwork in concert Oct. 28 and 30. Holy shit! First time I saw them live - couldnt ask for more. Mnemic and Threat Signal fucking owned also. Fuck Darkest Hour though. BLAH BLAH FUCKING BLAH FUCK BLAH BLAH. They shouldnt have been on that show at all. Whatever though. Gave me time recover from Mnemic before Soilwork played.

Gave me time recover from Mnemic before Soilwork played. lol I thought the same thing! I saw them 10-16. There was a little group of emo-looking kids standing next to us up through Darkest Hour (whom of which played just before Soilwork): two chicks with I think three guys. They were bitching about how the other bands sucked and whatnot. The girls were complaining about getting other people's sweat on them... infuckingcredible. Those are the people I'd like to kill at shows. Anyway, Swedish death metal kicks ass. I will be seeing In Flames again on Sunday... should be fun with Lacuna Coil also on the bill. If you guys are into SW and IF, try listening to Scar Symmetry: another badass Swedish death metal band.
