When I think of Skinny Puppy, I think industrial so fucking pure it will hurt just to sit down and listen to it, not because its bad (great stuff actually), but because there so much shit going on and so many out of place sounds. Skinny Puppy songs like Dig It, assimilate, shore lined poison, and most bite songs define the epitome of industrial. THEN they broke up, and what do we get? Everyone doing there own shit. Download and Oghr come into mind. These bands had the influences but somewhere along the whiney bitch band fighting (we, as musicians, all have them), SP lost its soul. Thats where everything went to shit, especially without Goettel.
This very loss of originality, greatness, and all around goodness, is manifested by The Greater Wrong Of Right. I know that expecting a great cd from a great band shouldnt be done because if its not delivered, that favoritism falters. And thats what i did. Everyone does it when they hurriedly rip the plastic off the jewel case. But honestly i would have be greatly disappointed anyway. Its not skinny puppy anymore, is oghr and key trying to revive skinny puppy. As i mentioned before while on hiatus, oghr and key (dave rave still remained but didnt really do shit and dwayne died) had other bands. And the influences of their projects permeates all through out TGWOR. and as an old sp fan, it makes me sick. Its great that they tried but, COME THE FUCK ON.. RAPPING ON A SKINNY PUPPY ALBUM? Its not industrial anymore its pop-y ass synth shit. No good. Vocals sound like five emo kids grabbing the lyrics sheet and singing (Use Less) on chorus. As i mentioned earlier all the industrial shit, gone. No random fucking sounds, no fucking lyrics nonsync with the music, no fucking great elements that made skinny puppy, skinny puppy. Listening to some songs i All I can do is hope for a better future, if there is none, they should have just completely destroyed the band after the process...
If you want proof of difference, DL Spasmolitic, Dig, Assimilate, listen to them. THEN DL empte, use less, and neuwerld.
