My thoughts on some of the releases of the past year or so.
CYNE - Evolution Fight - 7/10 Great hip-hop group, but I'd reccomend Time Being first to any new listener. Great beats that make use of awesome samples and have a reminiscent quality, solid rhymes, relevant lyrical content. Ace.
Moistboyz IV - 8/10 Fucking ace, not as ace as III, but still ace. Dean Ween tears shit up.
Danger DOOM - The Mouse and the Mask - 9/10 Only complaint is the length, it could be longer. Other than that, it's barely left my player since it came out. Danger Mouse is one of the most exciting names in music, I see only great things coming from him.
Dalek - Absence - 9/10 LISTEN. NOW.
QUOTSA - Lullabies to Paralyze - 4/10 I only listened to it once, but I remember the only song that I didn't nod off during being the intro with Tom Waits. Songs For the Deaf wasn't much better come to think of it.
Transplants - Haunted Cities - 8/10 Funny how the punk tracks suck ass in comparison to the hip-hop tracks. Solid rockage badassness.
Tsunami Bomb - The Definitive Act - 6/10 Again, only listened once or twice. Just didn't appeal as much at all as older TB.
Retard-O-Bot - Friendship Forever - 7/10 Surprisingly great. The beginning is kind of weak, but it picks up and kicks some ass by the end. I'd expected some horrible MSI/Deathcab For Cutie hybrid for the new album, but it's possibly better than any of the old stuff. Pedophilia can make any albums' art great.

I hate long reviews. The point still remains that you liked it or didn't, despite your deconstruction of every track and analysis of the bands' motives. Basically everything I listen to is gold and my word should be taken for divine mandate.
Hanzel und Gretyl - Scheissmessiah and Slipknot - Vol. 3.
Both of these are good albums. I give them a 5/10. The industrial influence in the Slipknot is a lot more apperant than on previous albums (especially IOWA), and the music is more mature. The lack of parental advisory sticker was a shocker. The HUG is also farther evolved, with some good crunching industrial tracks heavier than the previous releases, but both fall short. Neither was good for more than 3 or 4 listens IMO. While the music has evolved in a good way, I think both got lost on structure. It's tedious to listen from start to finish, but to pick out a few individual tracks they can be quite great. Each track individually is better seperate from the rest.
Whole Wheat Bread - Minority Rules - 7/10
Good punk album. Reminiscent of Pennywise or Millencolin in a way. The album contains some bonus tracks from bassplayer DJ Dirtee Skeet that could put 50 Cent to shame. The fact that they're all black isn't even worth mentioning after one listen, the music speaks for itself. Short though, very short.
General Patton Vs. the X-Ecutioners - 10/10
Whatever style of music you like, this album's irresistable. Just listen to it two or three times, the initial shock of the randomness will wear off and you won't be able to turn it off. Ever. Only album you need.
